Dreamwalker Cover Okay, Gang—I’ve wanted to start a Mad Libs-style game with you for quite a while now. We’re a pretty funny bunch, so I think whatever we come up with would be amazing. The thing is: most of us who read this blog are lurkers (myself included), but in order to play, I need you to come out of the bushes and leave a comment. Use a fake name if it makes you feel better. But this is only going to work if you help me out and play along.

Fake names ready? Okay!

I’ve taken an excerpt from a book called DREAMWALKER by Angela Wallace. I’m smitten by this comic/adventure fantasy novella. It’s about a woman who’s a retired warrior and has the ability to walk in the dream world. It’s widely thought that she’s the only one, but then she meets another, a dreamwalker for hire who uses his abilities to do very bad things. Neat, right? There’s also romance, but, as much as the dashing villain tries to romance our intrepid heroine, said heroine really only wants to punch the dashing villain in the face.

My kind of romance.

Anyway, I’m a big fan of this book and I’m excited because it’s turning into a series. The next book is coming out in the next few months, and this is my geek girl way of being happy about it.

But wait! There’s more! Giveaways and word games go together like sacrificial knives and tacky underwear, so let’s do it! I’m going to give away an ebook copy of DREAMWALKER. Sadly, in order to receive a copy you have to live in the U.S. If you live elsewhere, you can still play. And I hope you do.

To enter, all you have to do is comment below with your noun, verb, adjective, or adverb.

If you want to play but don’t want to enter the giveaway, all you have to do is make the (private) email address on your comment something like NoBookPlease@ERMAGHERDBERK.com. Or whatever. Just make it clear by your email address that you don’t want to enter the giveaway.

THE RULES

1. Your words must be PG rated. This is a family-friendly blog. Mostly.
2. There are a limited number of nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. Pick ONE, say which one you’re going with, and then submit your suggestion for that type of word.
3. Once all of a category of word is chosen (say, we have 5 suggestions for adjectives), you have to pick another category.
4. On Friday, I will post the story excerpt with our goofy words inserted, and announce the winner to the DREAMWALKER giveaway! (The winner will be chosen at random by one of those programs that do random number generation thingies. I’m so technical.)

So here we go! Post your submissions below, or this won’t be funny. And remember, my fellow Lurkers, code names are encouraged to protect the guilty.

For the DREAMWALKER “Mad Libs” word game, we need the following:
1. Action: 1 word (all taken!)
2. Verb: 5 words (all taken!)
3. Adjective: 5 words (all taken!)
4. Animal: 1 word (all taken!)
5. Noun: 7 words (all taken!)
6. Body part: 2 words (all taken!)

Post your suggestions in the comments below! Then come on back Friday, January 4, to read our DREAMWALKER “Mad Lib” word game!

Good choice, LARK MIDSTONE, Man of Mystery! The action word is now taken!

Brian
Gah, dippy me. Missed the animal category. I'm changing mine to Noun: poison ivy
    Jen
A platypus is a noun! I'll change it to poison ivy unless you say otherwise. :)
      Brian Ronk
Let's keep poison ivy. I like that one better. I'll save platypus for a future one.
Lori

Steve A.
Adjective: pulchritudinous (That word doesn't get used nearly enough, in my opinion.)
    Jen
Hah, I had to look it up. Everyone's challenge: use "pulchritudinous" three times in conversation this week.
      Amber
This is one of my favorite words from long ago. Latin derivatives, FTW!
Irma Gerd
Noun - shenanigans (OK, so that's a plural noun. It's still awesome though!)
    Steve A.
Is it possible to have just a single shenanigan? You never hear about them separately.

Oh and this sounds really fun! I have bookmarked this page and would like an email of the final results please! I also know dinner ware is not exciting but I felt along with sloth and pulchritudinous (that's 1) it would dovetail quite nicely. Thanks
    Jen
Hello Major! Nice to meet you! This will be up and ready for your viewing pleasure on Friday morning. You can subscribe via RSS (in the sidebar) or my Facebook page or my Twitter (which I notice you've already found). So glad you found us!
